Why families choose The Speech Path.

Specialized private therapy at every level of need

Some children receive Early Intervention, Preschool (CPSE), or School-age (CSE) services and benefit from private therapy in addition. Some have severe delays and want focused, individualized care. Others didn't qualify even when help was clearly needed. We work with all of these families, ages 1 through 11.

Rare GLP/NLA training, when your child needs it

Per the Meaningful Speech Registry, fewer than 5 clinicians in all of Western New York are listed as trained in Natural Language Acquisition for Gestalt Language Processors. The Speech Path has Meaningful Speech GLP/NLA trained clinicians.

Parents are the biggest accelerator. We train you, too.

You are not just dropping your child off. We train parents directly in every strategy, the reasoning behind every "why," and how to carry it over at home. A child seen once a week with active home practice progresses far more than a child seen once a week alone.

A trusted navigator across pediatric care in WNY

Speech is rarely the only piece. We have warm referral relationships with pediatric psychologists, OTs, PTs, audiologists, ENTs, and sub-specialty SLPs across Western New York. We only recommend what we would do for our own kids.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I'm Jill. I built The Speech Path for the children I knew were being missed.

I started The Speech Path in January 2021 because I kept seeing the same thing: children who clearly needed help, and systems that couldn't get to them fast enough. Waitlists growing. Qualification thresholds tightening. Families being told "wait and see" when every instinct said otherwise.

So I built something different. A practice where every session is 1:1, every plan is built around your child, and parents aren't just welcome in the room, they're part of the process. I wanted families to feel like their concerns were heard from the first phone call.

I'm also a mom of two boys. I built this practice during the pandemic with a toddler and an infant at home. I know what it feels like to lie awake wondering if something is "just a phase" or something more.

After 14 years across early intervention, preschool, and school-age settings, my clinical belief is simple: children aren't lazy when it comes to communication. They just haven't found their way yet. My job is to light the path.

"I know what it feels like to lie awake wondering if something is just a phase or something more. That worry doesn't have an off switch, even when you do this for a living."

Our child did not speak until therapy with Jill. Jill showed us that there is more than one pathway to speech development, and it was a breakthrough moment for us. Her therapy is play based and child led. I promise she will change your child’s life.

Brooke has been such a gift. She is so creative with the games she uses during sessions, and our son absolutely loves working with her. We’ve seen noticeable improvement in a short period of time. Adding private speech therapy alongside school services has truly helped our child thrive.

When our son (2 years old) didn’t qualify for speech through early intervention, we booked weekly summer sessions. The progress he made was incredible. We went from roughly 40–50 words to saying things like “I want ___.” Jill provided weekly resources to build and expand on these skills at home.

We did the whole process of going through the state and school district and I was very disappointed. I came across The Speech Path, called Jill, and she set me up with Olivia. I couldn’t be happier. My son is super excited to see Miss Olivia every week. I noticed a huge difference in just one week.

Common Questions

Answers to the things parents ask most.

If your child is not meeting communication milestones, is difficult to understand, or seems frustrated trying to express themselves, a speech-language evaluation can help clarify where they are and what support might look like. You do not need a referral to get started.
We see children ages 1 through 11. Our approach is tailored to each child's developmental stage, from early communicators to school-age children working on speech sounds, language, social communication, or literacy-related skills.
We are a private pay practice. We accept credit cards, cash, HSA, and FSA. We provide super-bills that families can submit to their insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is parent-led and outcomes vary by plan.
Gestalt Language Processing is a natural path of language development where children learn language in whole chunks or scripts before breaking it down into smaller units. Children who script from TV shows, repeat phrases, or use rich intonation patterns may be gestalt language processors. Our SLPs have specialized training in GLP/NLA to support these children.
Sessions are 30 minutes. We require a minimum of one session per week for ongoing therapy. Consistent, weekly sessions are essential for building momentum and making real progress. Children who attend sporadically do not make the same gains as children who show up consistently, and we want every child on our caseload to have the best possible outcome. Some families choose to schedule more than once a week based on their child's needs. There is no long-term contract. Billing is weekly with no prepayment required, with the exception of prepaid summer programming.
Yes. Many of our families pair private speech therapy with school-based services. School therapy targets goals that have an educational or academic impact, while private therapy allows for individualized, 1:1 care at your child's pace across a broader range of communication needs. The two can complement each other.
Yes, telehealth is available for New York State families when appropriate for the child. Parent coaching and training sessions are also available via telehealth on an as-needed basis. Appropriateness depends on the child's age, needs, and ability to engage through a screen.
Your first phone consultation is a 15-minute conversation where we listen to your concerns, learn about your child, and help determine whether an evaluation or other next step makes sense. It is completely free and there is no commitment.
Absolutely. We believe parents and caregivers are a child's most important communication partners. Parent involvement looks different for every family, but we always share strategies you can use at home to support your child's progress between sessions.
We maintain a trusted network of pediatric specialists across Western New York, including psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, special education teachers, audiologists, ENTs, and other related fields. If your child needs support outside of what we provide, we will connect you with someone we trust personally.
